In Case You Missed It... AAPSM President Rob Conenello, DPM was recently interviewed by Rachel Morris, Associate Editor /Fitness and Psychology for Weight Watchers Magazine.
AAPSM Fellow Cary Zinkin, DPM, was recently appointed to the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee for the Florida High School Athletic Association (www.fhssa.org) which governs rules and safety for all aspects of high school sports, leagues and tournaments in the State of Florida. AAPSM Fellows Karen Langone, DPM and Paul Langer, DPM were recently quoted in Good Housekeeping Magazine….. Best lightweight walking shoes…….Summer is the nicest time to take your fitness routine outdoors. And just as your wardrobe is being pared down, so are the latest sneakers. Two podiatrists - Karen Langone, D.P.M., a specialist in sports and fitness medicine in Southampton, NY, and Paul Langer, D.P.M., of Twin Cities Orthopedics in Minneapolis - along with a group of Good Housekeeping Research Institute testers evaluated seven styles (each nine ounces or less) for fit, comfort, and structure.
On a recent Labor Day ride... AAPSM Past President Tom Shonka, DPM from Colorado displays his pride from the top of Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in the country.

The AAPSM would like to thank and acknowledge those members who have contributed to the Robert M. Barnes, DPM Memorial Fund and the William Olson, DPM Scholarship Fund. With donations to these funds the AAPSM is able to continue to provide student scholarships and participation in a variety of sports medicine seminars.
As you know, the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine elected Robert M. Conenello, DPM, a sports medicine podiatrist in private practice in Orangeburg, New York, as your new President. The AAPSM also is pleased to welcome Brian Fullem, DPM a graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and podiatrist from Tampa, Florida as the new Director. Dr. Fullem is joined by: President-Elect- Paul R. Langer, DPM, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Vice-President - David Jenkins, Glendale, Arizona; Secretary/Treasurer– Dianne Mitchell, DPM, Sacramento, California and Jamie Yakel, DPM, Brighton, Colorado serves as Immediate Past President. Rita J. Yates continues to serve as AAPSM Executive Director. Special thanks goes out to meeting chairman Dave Jenkins, DPM for putting together an outstanding sports medicine lecture track followed up with a fantastic panel discussion. Despite room set up and av mishaps the track was well received. The AAPSM looks forward to putting together another spectacular program for the 2013 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. The AAPSM would like to congratulate Corey Housepian - a member of the CSPM Class of 2014 - on being the 23rd recipient of the Robert M. Barnes, DPM Memorial Scholarship. Current AAPSM President Rob Conenello, DPM presented Corey his $1000 scholarship and certificate on Saturday, September 15 at the Biomechanics and Sports Medicine Symposium at CSPM.
